VACOM welcomes 9 new trainees

With the beginning of the new vocational year, nine new trainees started their professional life at VACOM. The young people are trained in eight different professions for example wholesale and foreign trade clerk, IT specialist (system integration), machining and construction mechanics, or physics laboratory technician.

The president of VACOM Dr. Ute Bergner did not only welcome the "new ones" but also congratulated the recent skilled workers. Again this year, after the successful examination all trainees signed their contract of employment and will continue their way at VACOM. Their career also began three years ago with the VACOM Trainee Welcome Day...

Dr. Dieter-Lebrecht Koch visits VACOM


Members of the Regional Committee on European Affairs of the CDU Thuringia with their chairman Dr. Dieter-Lebrecht Koch and the general secretary Dr. Mario Voigt (Thuringian CDU) visited VACOM.

The president Dr. Ute Bergner informed the politicians about the development of the globally oriented company and the start of operation of the new production and technology centre.

VACOM maintains business relations with companies from more than 40 countries worldwide and is represented in the Benelux states and France by a subsidiary.

Development department ISO certified

As part of the monitoring audit the development department was certified for the first time. After the latest audit by the TÜV Süd was successfully performed in June 2011, VACOM has again received the certification for the fulfillment of the Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008.

So VACOM takes into account the high quality standards of development, production and trading of vacuum components, measuring equipment and vacuum systems.

Jena, 22nd June 2011: VACOM reached second level of the competition
"Großer Preis des Mittelstandes"


The vacuum specialist VACOM, located at the scientific and technology centre Jena, once more is one of the companies nominated for the "Großer Preis des Mittelstandes" (Grand Prix of Small and Medium Business) of the Oscar-Patzelt Foundation and reached the second level of the selection process.

Condition to reach the second level is a first positive evaluation of the following criteria by jurors from industry, administration and politics.

1. Total development of the company
2. Creation and protection of jobs and traineeships/apprenticeships
3. Innovation and modernisation
4. Commitment to the local region (corporate citizenship)
5. Service, customer focus, marketing

New 5-axis milling center put into operation

With moving into the new production and technology centre further production technology is integrated in many manufacturing stages: recently, a travelling column machine of the newest generation started its operation and is now available for the treatment of vacuum components. The milling centre allows for a 5-axis treatment of components up to 1800 mm length and a diameter of 500 mm. Thus, we are more flexible and can make the use of CAD/CAM much more effective.

VACOM at the "Hannover Messe" 2011

At ComVac, the leading trade fair for compressed air and vacuum technology alongside the Hannover Messe, VACOM presented a selection of its products and new developments. VACOM is part of high technologies such as the semiconductor industry, solar, LED and nano technology, optics and particle accelerators for medicine and research.

VACOM just completed the most successful financial year in its history and wants to grow further. For this purpose, VACOM looks for qualified employees amongst others in research and development.

Start of Operation of the New VACOM Production and Technology Centre

Already in February, the first production areas moved on schedule, including the CNC centre and the welding area.

The generously planned new building will have a production area with around 4.000 m2 including 820 m2 of clean room and approx. 1.000 m2 office and training space.

Ecological aspects were also taken into account during planning. This includes an optimized energy system as well as environmentally friendly processing technologies.

VACOM honoured with Bambus Champion 2010

VACOM Vakuum Komponenten & Messtechnik is one of the prize winners of the Bambus Champion 2010 award. The Bambus Champion is awarded annually to companies that grow over several years - similar to a bamboo - faster than the industry average and also share their success metrics and act as a role model for other market players.

The award was initiated in 2009 by the Kalkbrenner Consulting and the Oskar Patzelt Foundation ("Grand Prix of Medium-Sized Enterprises") and presented this year for the first time. Prof. Dr. Roland Alter from Heilbronn University and Christian Kalkbrenner analysed the growth patterns of 22 SMEs with better-than-average growth from all parts of Germany between July 2009 and May 2010. The winners are comprehensively profiled in a book entitled "Growth Champions - Made in Germany".

Topping-out Ceremony for the Expansion of VACOM’s Production and Technology Centre

The progress of construction work made it possible to celebrate the topping-out ceremony nine months after ground-beaking. The new building will have a production area of nearly 4.000 m2 including 820 m2 clean room and approximately 1.000 m2 for office and training. Start of operation is planned for the end of February 2011.

VACOM's Trainee Welcoming Day 3 August 2010

10 new trainees increasing the total number of apprentices at to 27. Continuous training of junior staff is part of the long-term policy of the German vacuum specialist.

The trainees will learn the professions of wholesale and foreign trade and IT specialist or will be trained to be a mechanic and design draughtsman or electronic technician.

Since 1992, when the company was founded, more than 40 trainees have successfully completed their education and to date most of the apprentices have been taken on as employees. Four trainees were happy to receive an employment contract after passing their exams this year.

Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008 Successfully Confirmed

VACOM's demands for the highest quality is also evidenced by the commitment to the Quality Standard ISO 9001.

The first official certificate was granted in 1998. The latest audit was successfully performed on 16 June 2010. The Certification Body of TÜV Management Service certified again that VACOM works according to the Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008.

About 150 pupils, parents and teachers as well as the educator team celebrated the 10th birthday of the VACOM boarding home. The mayor of Jena Frank Schenker dignified in his greeting the successful combination of a state-run school with the boarding home organised by a private company.

Ground-breaking Ceremony for Extension of VACOMS’s Manufacturing and Technology Centre, 21 December 2009

VACOM is growing further. The course was set for the extension of our manufacturing and technology centre in the industrial park of Grosslöbichau near Jena.

This expansion of our capacities will enable us to satisfy the growing requirements and wishes of our customer even more comprehensive and flexible.

The new manufacturing facilities will have a floor area of approx. 4.600 m2: manufacturing hall, large clean room area, logistics centre and space for training purposes. The concept of intelligent use of renewable energies will be pursued as well.

With 7 new trainees the total number of apprentices at VACOM increased up to 18.
Accordant to the demand of VACOM the trainees will learn the professions of wholesale and foreign trade and IT specialist or will be trained to be a chipping mechanic.

Since 1992 27 trainees have successfully completed their education.
So far most of the apprentices have have been taken on as employees.

Dr. Ute Bergner - Entrepreneur of the Year Award of the City of Jena

Dr. Ute Bergner, the company founder and managing proprietor of VACOM Vakuum Komponenten & Messtechnik GmbH, was honoured by the Federal Association of Medium-sized Enterprises and the City of Jena as "Jena’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2008".

The award appreciates the commercial success and the creation of employment and apprenticeship positions of the company located in the Thuringian scientific and technology centre as well as the social engagement of the honoured person.

15 Years VACOM - Start-up of the new manufacturing facility

VACOM can look back on 15 years of successful corporate history having evolved from a small trading company, founded 1992 by its president Dr. Ute Bergner in the Thuringian scientific and technology centre, Jena, into a medium-sized enterprise with competence in manufacturing, development and service.

The start-up of our new manufacturing facility will enable us to expand our capacities and to offer a higher level of service including clean room packing and material analysis, in order to better satisfy your requirements.
